The long, heroic poem, Horatius by Thomas Babington, is about Horatius Cocles, who single handed saved the City State of Rome from capture by the Etruscan’s around 500 B.C. After the Etruscan’s were defeated, Rome finished its transition from a City State to a Republic, and eventually into the great empire it is remembered as today.
From Britannica:
“The Etruscan’s are known as Italy’s first advanced civilization, famous for their richly decorated tombs and a formidable power in what is now northern and central Italy. For a little more than a century, three Etruscan kings ruled over Rome. Sometime around 509 bce, the citizens of the Latin city rose up and expelled the third and last Etruscan king, Lucius Tarquinius Superbus, accusing him of tyranny and corruption and establishing a republic in the place of the former monarchy.
Tarquinius returned the following year, bringing with him an army led by the tyrant Lars Porsena of the Etruscan city-state of Clusium (modern Chiusi, in Tuscany). The Etruscan army took the Romans by surprise, approaching from behind the Janiculum, a hill to the west across the Tiber outside the city walls. Farmers raced for the safety of the Sulpician Bridge—the only crossing point into the city—as the enemy appeared above. No resistance had been prepared, and the capture of Rome seemed a certainty until Horatius Cocles came up with an impulsive plan.”
This painting depicts Horatius defending the Sulpician Bridge.
Historically accurate? Maybe. Perhaps a myth. Either way, it is an epic piece of literature with relevance to America’s current situation. How is this story relevant today?
America is, and has been under assault by enemies for a long time. Enemies from without, similar to the Etruscans (China, Iran, Russia, etc. in our case) but also enemies from within, (Democrats, Global Elites, Corporations, etc.) and like Rome in Horatius’s time we are in eminent danger. The most important election in our history? Absolutely. Liberty? Or tyranny? The choice in 2024 could not be any clearer, and if you can’t figure out which candidate for President is the liberty choice and which one is the tyranny choice then you have no business voting. Please sit this one out.
If Donald Trump is not elected President, or if he is not allowed to assume office, (a real possibility) and if he is not given support with overwhelming numbers in the House and Senate (not just Republicans, but the right kind of Republicans) you will be amazed at just how quickly this place will degenerate into a version of Venezuela, and that’s the plan, and has been for a long time, it’s all intentional. (Remember, not so long ago, Venezuela was a thriving, prosperous country). According to Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum: “By the year 2030 you will own nothing and be happy.” After all, you can’t build a “Plantation Earth” if the slaves have somewhere to escape to? And that’s why the biggest obstacle that must be removed in order for their plans to become reality is: You guessed it, AMERICA, the American middle class more specifically.
America's Modern Day Horatius is Donald Trump. Look at what they have done to this man. Unfounded impeachments, spying on his administration while he was President, indictments for made up crimes after he was President, he and his family under constant, non-stop verbal assaults by media whores, called everything from a NAZI to a traitor to an insurrectionist, and on and on. They’ve even tried to kill him, twice already. Yet, there he stands, on that bridge, bloodied, bruised and under constant attack: “FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT”. Still fighting hard. Just as Horatius did.
If Donald Trump can stay on that bridge and fight to the end, a real profile in courage, then the least we can do is help tear down that bridge and cut off the enemies approach. We do that by voting in overwhelming numbers for DONALD HORATIUS TRUMP. Take several friends who will do the same. Remember, Trump has to cover the spread, (the cheating spread). He not only has to win, he has to win HUGELY, BIGLY! VOTE EARLY. Help save this Republic called America!
